Events Widget

The following widget was designed for displaying event instances. The widget was created due to a request by my employer (Aston Students' Union). The Widget allows a user to view multiple photos of an event instance by flicking through the mini-carousel included in the widget.

The user-experience was a major consideration behind the design. To minimise the amount of effort and context switches required to view information on each event, a details element is used that slides open, revealing a brief description of the event. This allows the user to quickly gain an overview of each event, without actually navigating to the specific event page. The specific event page contains the sign up link, which is where the 'Sign Up' button would link to, as perhaps after reading the description and gaining an understanding of the event, the user may not be interested in signing up to the event. Meaning it would be a waste of their time to of had to navigate to another page simply to discover this.
